About Us

Love for all things 80s & 90s is nothing new. Just like you, the OBLIVION team grew up in the 80s & 90s drooling over posters, magazines and video games. For most of us, our first car is still in the stable even after starting our careers and our families.

Yet year after year Ontario’s rust belt consumed most of them, and it was hard not to notice cars like ours were becoming rare.

As we got together each summer for small events, we recognized the growing nostalgia and genuine desire for these old toys. We wanted to share the love of our cars and help this group celebrate the culture of the 80s and 90s we remember fondly. Members of our team, each with a number of 80s and/or 90s cars, found less excitement and less of a connection to other shows and decided the “classic” car show needed a modern update.

In 2015 the OBLIVION team began discussing plans for Canada’s first 80s & 90s show. We reached out and started gauging interest across southwestern Ontario. The fall of 2016 brought the team a solid relationship with a major sponsor and we continued to build off the momentum throughout 2017. Inspired by our love of this era, more sponsors came on board.

The first OBLIVION 80s and 90s Car and Culture Show was held Saturday August 25th, 2018 at Milton Memorial Arena. Space for our cars, indoor display and games, food trucks, a local gourmet pizza vendor, and licensed for the local craft beer and cocktails, there was something for all tastes.

Things took off from there; 2019 saw us hold our event at the most retro place in Canada – Ontario Place! We had reserved the West Island and cove of the property for a multi level nostalgic experience on the water like no other – the first and last car show to be in there.

2020 was another milestone for us, where we featured the OBLIVION ROOM at the Canadian International Autoshow – right before the temporary end of all shows during the pandemic.

Fast forward to 2021 and CAMP OBLIVION, we procured an entire vintage summer camp complete with all the feel good items to take attendees back to summers past! (With Ed the sock!)

2022 was the most visually stunning OBLIVION yet, OBLIVION MALL saw us take over an entire vintage shopping mall inside and out including stores, hair salon, and some long gone brands!

2023 saw us break the mold again and host an 80’s wedding theme at a picturesque venue in Oakville, complete with bride, groom, special guest Rick the Temp, and of course, a K-Car Limo!

For 2024, we go back to a spot many of us were excited to go to during school – a field trip to Country Heritage Park! What was then our Pioneer Village has stayed well preserved over the years, with almost the entire layout as it was in the 80s and 90s.

Join us and make Sunday August 11th 2024 a great day to go on a field trip!
